Gerald has Dr Honoris Causa from three universities, Uzbekistan State Institute of Art and Culture, Hanoi University of Culture, Viet Nam as well as the National Culture Medal and Vysoka Skola Muzickych Umeni v Bratislave, Slovakia  

He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and has the Freedom of the City of London. In 1994 he created the MA arts Administration and Cultural Policy and was Director of this programme until July 2024.

He has tutored 12 PhDs to completion and has been an external examiner for three universities. More Recently he has been the Director of a British Council partnership, Creative Spark in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for five years. 

In addition for the British Council and other agencies, he has conducted courses and seminars in Russia, France, East Jerusalem, Korea, Philippines, Cyprus, Slovakia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Belgium, Australia, Viet Nam, Egypt, Romania, Ukraine, India, UAE, Trinidad, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan. Qatar, Ukraine and additionally Viet Nam for the Ford Foundation. 

He was also responsible for three years for an MA in creative and cultural Industries in the Men鈥檚 technical college Abu Dhabi UAE.   

His most recent interventions were:

• Education and the Creative economy in the territories of the 鈥榥ew silk roads鈥� 
• House of Commons Select Committee on Foreign Affairs. The UK鈥檚 Engagement in Central Asia 

Besides being a Visiting Research and Knowledge Exchange Fellow (VRKEF) at ICCE, she is a Fellow in Social Learning Leadership, at the Social Learning Lab led by global theorists Etienne and Beverly Wenger-Trayner. She is currently focusing on her scholarly writing, accepting occasional teaching, supervision, examining and consulting opportunities. She continues engaged in the eurovisions.eu [https://www.eurovisions.eu/] project, as a core member of this research group yearly delivering an international conference on the Eurovision Song Contest.  

In her academic career, she is most proud of being awarded the 2018 Goldsmiths Student-Led Award for Challenging and Inspiring Teaching, nominated by her international cohort of students. At ICCE, Goldsmiths, she had for a decade the roles of PhD Supervisor, Programme Convener of two MAs, Lead Tutor of several modules, and programme Senior Tutor. She was also Chair of Research Committee and Chair of the Postgraduate Learning and Teaching Committee. She joined ICCE as Visiting Tutor in 2011, when she design and deliver an option module for an existing masters鈥� programme. In 2012/3, she used that module as a basis to develop the first MA programme in the world dedicated to international cultural relations and cultural diplomacy, and became a Lecturer (and a Senior Lecturer from 2019). The MA in Cultural Policy, Relations and Diplomacy (MA CPRD), which she designed and taught for a decade, was launched in 2013/14. In ICCE, she also convened and taught on the MA in Tourism and Cultural Policy since 2013, and was module leader for eight years on a Graduate Diploma (Level 6). She has successfully supervised four PhDs to completion and examined eleven. Dr Figueira left her paid employment at Goldsmiths on the 31st July 2024, but remains attached as a VRKEF. 

Carla is an International Relations graduate from Instituto Superior de Ci锚ncias Sociais e Pol铆ticas da Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal) and she moved to London after a career in arts management at Lisbon鈥檚 Local Authority (C芒mara Municipal de Lisboa, Departamento de Cultura), where her last post was Director of the Municipal Sound Library (Fonoteca Municipal de Lisboa), heading a team of 13 staff. In the UK, she gained an MA in Arts Management (City University, Chevening Scholar) and a PhD in Cultural Policy and Management (City University, Praxis XXI Scholar). 

She is a founding member of ICRRA, the International Cultural Relations Research Alliance, hosted by Institut f眉r Auslandsbeziehungen and the British Council. She is a member of ENCATC, the European network on Cultural Management and Cultural Policy education, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). 

Martin works in the media, cultural and creative sectors in a variety of capacities. He is special adviser to the Ingenious Group, an investment firm which over the last 20 years has been the largest independent investor in the UK鈥檚 'creative economy', having deployed more than 拢8 billion in media content and related business assets.

Martin is a member of the Creative Industries Advisory Group (CIAG), a UKRI/AHRC body convened to advise on the government鈥檚 拢150 million creative industries 鈥榮ector deal鈥� announced in March 2018 and was previously a member of the AHRC's Project Advisory Group on Cultural Value led by Prof Geoffrey Crossick.

He is a Senior Member of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and a Life Member of Clare Hall, Cambridge. He is also a Member of the International Network of Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy (CIIP), Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, and a Senior Research Associate of the Centre for Financial History, University of Cambridge.

He was the founding Scientific Director of the Institute for Advanced Study of the University of Bologna and founding Managing Editor of the journal 'Structural Change and Economic Dynamics' (SCED). His intellectual biography appeared in 'Makers of Modern Economics', vol. I, ed. A. Heertje, Harvester Wheatsheaf, 1993.

His primary areas of interest are the economic theory of production and structural economic dynamics. His research led him to investigate foundational aspects of production theory, and to address production structures as patterns of interdependencies determining the feasibility range of production processes.

He investigated the relationships between the structure and scale of production processes, the relationship between the specification of structural interdependencies and economic dynamics, and the interface between the economic, political, and policy domains.

His current work explores key concepts of structural economic analysis such as the criterion of relative structural invariance, the possibility of alternative specifications of economic structure, and the implications of structural and connectivity analysis for the dynamics and political economy of production.

Professor Russell Belk is York University Distinguished Research Professor, Royal Society of Canada Fellow, and Kraft Foods Canada Chair of marketing at the Schulich School of Business. He brings to the IMS at Goldsmiths his leading expertise in extended self, meanings of possessions, collecting, gift-giving, sharing, digital consumption, and materialism. 

Professor Russell Belk has published more than 800 publications, including more than 30 in the Journal of Consumer Research. He began his current role at the Schulich School of Business in 2006 after 25 years at University of Utah, five years at University of Illinois, two years at Temple University, and a total of seven years getting his Bachelor鈥檚 and PhD degrees at the University of Minnesota.

He has received numerous teaching, best paper, and research awards, including the Paul D. Converse Award, two Fulbright Fellowships, the Sheth Foundation/Journal of Consumer Research Award for Long Term Contribution, the Arch Woodside Award, and the Carl Bode Award.

He is a Fellow in ACR, APA, the Royal Society of Canada. He received a Doctorate Honoris Causa with a festschrift from the Universit茅 de Reims Champagne Ardenne in France in 2023. He received an ALCOR Hall of Fame star that same year and the Russell Belk Centre for International Relations was established at Woxsen University in Hyderabad, India.

In 2012 a ten-volume set of his papers was published in the Sage Legends in Consumer Behavior series with interviews and commentaries.
