Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS)

A CAS statement is an electronic document you will need to apply for a Student Visa.

Primary page content

The UK government has introduced a restriction that refuses visas for people applying for certain UK visas on specific routes and for specific nationalities. This is known as a visa brake.

The visa brake currently applies to:

  • Student visa applications made outside the UK from main applicants who are nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar (Burma) and Sudan

Consequently, we will not be able to issue CAS documents presently for students from these countries who are applying from outside of the UK.

If you are a national of one of these countries and have a valid UK visa, you are still able to apply inside the UK for an in-country visa extension or other visa route in-country if you are eligible.
