CAS process for conditional offer holders

Follow these steps to request a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) if you have a conditional offer from Goldsmiths.

Primary page content

Step 1 - Accept your conditional offer

You accept your conditional offer to study with us and start to prepare for your visa application by reading our online guidance. If you prepare early you will have a better chance of getting your student visa on time.

Step 2 - Meet the conditions of your offer

You meet the conditions of your offer (for example, we may have asked you to take an English language test or send us your transcripts).

Once you have met these conditions, we will normally issue you with an unconditional offer, and you will start to receive information about the CAS and visa process.

Step 3 - Complete the CAS request form and make a fee payment

You will receive a link to complete a CAS request form online. The earliest we will start to issue CAS depends on when your programme starts.

We will issue CAS for students joining in September from June onward.

Make a £4000 advanced payment towards your tuition fees before your CAS can be issued.

If you receive financial support from a university, school, government or international company (including an international organisation), then you are usually exempt from this payment.

As part of the CAS process, we may carry out additional checks to ensure that applicants meet UK visa requirements. This may include requesting further information about your academic background, work history or study plans.

If you will be under the age of 18 when you apply for your Student visa or when you start your studies in the UK, you will need to provide additional documents.

Please see our page for applicants under the age of 18.

Step 4 - We review your CAS request

We will let you know if we need additional information.

CAS processing times can vary depending on the time of year and whether additional checks are required.

Step 5 - We let you know if you need to supply financial documents

Some students need to provide financial documents when applying for a student visa and if you do, we will request them from you as part of the CAS process.  We will then review them and provide advice to you.

Don't send us any financial documents unless we ask you for them.

If we need to see your financial documents, then we can only issue a CAS once the document has met the visa requirements, and we will help you understand the requirements during the process.

Step 6 - CAS issued and you can apply for a Student visa

If we have everything we need and you meet the visa requirements, we will issue your CAS and email you a CAS statement as soon as possible.

When we issue a CAS, we will send you important guidance about the next steps in your Student visa application. It is very important to follow the instructions in your CAS email carefully, including guidance about accessing and proving your immigration status once your visa has been granted.

Your CAS number is valid for six months from the date of issue and can only be used for one Student visa application.
